PUG STANDARD!

Sustainability means focusing people, planet and profit. To want our products to be sustainable, and therefore we use the PUG Standard. In some cases external approvals are also needed.

The PUG Standard requires a product to:

Use little	To use little means leaving small traces while walking. That is to use materials and energy efficiently and reduce the use of resources in the product itself, the making of it and the use of it. Maybe the product even makes you reduce the need of other resources?
Live long	Long living products can be used for a long time, you don’t need to throw it away and you don’t need to replace it. This means less waste. What makes a product live for a long time? The product must be made with you as a user in mind and mean something to you; it must be useful and well functioning, you must like the look and the quality must be in place. A thing of beauty is a joy forever – it’s goods you don’t throw it away!
Disappear easily	If you need to throw the product away, the product must not cause any problems to people or the planet. Products that may be reused by others, reused in a new fashion, be recycled or biodegradable, closes its product life cycle and leaves no footprint. No waste is created – it dies easily.
Be fair	Man is always involved in the making of goods. In development, production and use of products man must be taken care of in accordance with human rights.
Be profitable	A profitable product creates a turn over that can be used in making better products, improving the environment and human conditions. Let’s turn profits to more sustainability!

Having this set of requirements fulfilled, good design is created – design that consider the whole life cycle. We call it cyclic beauty: PUG up – get cyclic!
